Pull Up Bar Types
They have become very popular over the last few years. They are part of the ‘wave’ of home trainers that has surged in recent years.
People are more health conscious than ever but we all lead ever increasingly busy lives. The desire and motivation to go the gym is there but most us simply lack the time.
There are many different type of home pull up bars available on the market but buyer all fall into one of three general categories:
Doorway Pull Up Bars
They (as the names suggests), are designed to fit over and around a door frame without the need for any drill holes or fixings. The main selling feature of a door mounted is the fact that it’s removable. Most models are easy and quick to fit over the door frame and are usually compact and easy to store when not in use.
Some models are even designed to be portable making them easy enough to pack and take on your vacation or to the office or to friend’s house.
The one downside with a door mounted is that you need a suitably sturdy and sized door frame to mount the bar on. Most bars require doorways to be 24″ to 32″ wide with the doorway trim (mounding up) to 3 ½ inches wide. This is a general requirement, actual requirements will differ per manufacture and pull up bar.
They usually have a weight limit of 300lbs but to be honest, if you weight over 300lb then you’re gonna struggle to do even one pull up unassisted.
The latest advancement in door mounted design is taking advantage of the fact that they are not permanently attached to the door frame. They can be placed on the floor and used to perform several exercise including sit ups and triceps dips. That’s a pretty impressive variety of exercises form one relatively small, inexpensive piece of kit.
Wall Mounted Pull Up Bar
They are permanently fixed to a wall. As you can imagine you need 1) a strong (preferably outer) wall to attach the bar to and 2) some very strong anchor bolts for the fixings.
The main disadvantages with wall mounted bars is the initial effort required in mounting the bar on the wall and the permanent space they occupy. You need to allocate a space where the bar will remain so will need to think about this carefully before hand.
Wall mounted bars are generally far sturdier than their door mounted cousins. The solid wall mounting means there’s no shaking or give in the bar when performing a pull up.
Free Standing Pull Up Bar
They are generally used outdoors or where space is not a problem. They can easily take up some 6+sq meters of floor space. This allows far more room to move around and if high enough, will not require the legs to be raised.
Free standing bars usually suite commercial home gyms as they can easily cost upwards of $300.
If you can afford one, the real advantage of free standing bars is that the more expensive ones come with a weight stack. The stack has select-able weight setting and via a standing platform, will assist you in the raising part of a pull up.
This is ideal for beginners who would normally struggle to complete just one unassisted pull up. However, they are also superb for more advanced users who want to do some high rep (15+) pull ups.
Benefit From the Functional Design of a Neoprene Hex Dumbbell System
It contains 44 dumbbells weighing from 1 to 10 pounds. These are perfect for exercises in conjunction with your aerobics routine. The innovative hexagonal design of the dumbbell set in bright colors lets you know immediately which weight you want to use for your exercise.
They means that each weight has been dipped in high visibility neoprene. The coating makes this weight set more durable, smoother for handling and rust proof. Using these dumbbells for your exercise needs is a perfect way of easing yourself into weight training.
Exercising properly with dumbbells can really add to anyone’s workout routine. The Neoprene hexagonal shaped dumbbells are easy to hold and using them will help to shape and strengthen your muscles. Most people use these brightly colored weight sets along with aerobic exercises to help them lose weight because they increase the workout you give your muscles.
Using they when exercising lets you vary your routines alternating between heavy and light days. This variation in the amount of free weights you use gives your muscles a rest if you do aerobics every day. Even within an exercise session, you can use different weights or adjustable dumbbells to accompany each different workout.
Using dumbbells for strength training and exercise helps to increase your metabolism and this translates into losing more weight. This is because the hexagonal shaped neoprene dumbbells help to make the muscles leaner as they burn off the fat. In addition to helping you lose weight, exercising with a dumbbell set improves the strength of your bones, tendons and ligaments.
You can choose to have a rack for easy storage of the neoprene hex style of dumbbells in your home gym. Since the rack stands upright, you can store the weights against the wall and they won’t take up any of your much needed space for other home exercise equipment.
